Match the name and the city
Read the record that comes back. The registered name and the city should be the same on SEBI's site and on the firm's. A certificate image proves only that somebody owns an image editor.
Find the grievance route before you pay
Every registered analyst publishes one, along with monthly complaint data. You can escalate to SEBI SCORES or SMART ODR yourself. Look for it while you are still deciding, not afterwards.

What a Chennai desk does and does not change
