How do I check a Research Analyst's BSE enlistment number?

What the BSE number is, why it is different from the SEBI number, and the exact taps to look it up.

Published 3 November 2026 · Potoos Research Services

Open BSE's list of enlisted Research Analysts at bseindia.com/IARA/RegisteredRA. Type the analyst's SEBI registration number, which starts with INH, or their name in the box, then tap Submit. The row that comes back shows the BSE enlistment number, the SEBI registration number, the name, the city and the state. BSE keeps this list because SEBI recognised it as the Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body (RAASB) from July 25, 2024. SEBI's own register does not show the enlistment number.

What RAASB is

RAASB stands for Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body. It is the body that looks after the day-to-day administration and supervision of Research Analysts for SEBI.

SEBI's master circular for Research Analysts says that BSE Limited "has been granted recognition under Regulation 14 of the ‘RA Regulations’ ... as RAASB ... for a period of five years starting from July 25, 2024." The recognition came through SEBI circular SEBI/HO/MIRSD/MIRSD-POD-1/P/CIR/2024/101, dated July 12, 2024.

So when an analyst's page says "BSE Enlistment No", it means the analyst is enlisted with BSE in its role as RAASB.

SEBI registration number and BSE enlistment number are two different numbers

SEBI registration number
Given by SEBI. A Research Analyst number starts with INH, like INH000027380.
Where to check it

BSE enlistment number
Shown by BSE as RAASB. On BSE's list it is a plain number, like 7210.

Every SEBI-registered Research Analyst has to be enlisted with RAASB. SEBI's rules say an applicant seeking registration as a Research Analyst "is required to be enlisted with RAASB". Analysts who were already registered when this started were treated as enlisted. For new applications, "enlistment with RAASB/ IAASB shall be a pre-requisite for grant of certificate of registration as RA/ IA by SEBI."

The two numbers do different jobs. The SEBI number is the registration. The BSE number is the enlistment with the body that supervises Research Analysts. Neither one replaces the other, so a genuine analyst has both.

Why the BSE number matters to you

It gives you a second, independent list to check against. A genuine analyst appears on SEBI's register and on BSE's list, with the same SEBI number, the same name and the same city.

SEBI's advertisement code also expects these details to be findable. If a message, SMS or social media post leaves out details such as the full name, the registered office address, the SEBI registration number or "membership number of a SEBI recognized supervisory body, if any", it should carry a link to the analyst's official website, and "the website must contain all such details."

Neither number tells you anything about results. SEBI's required wording is that registration with SEBI, enlistment with BSE and NISM certification "in no way guarantee performance of the intermediary or provide any assurance of returns to investors."

How to check this yourself

You need the analyst's SEBI registration number or name, and about five minutes.

  1. Open BSE's list

Open BSE's list of enlisted Research Analysts. The page is titled "BSE Enlisted RA Members".

  2. Type the number or the name in the box

Tap the box marked "SEBI Registration No /Research Analyst Name". Type the SEBI number exactly as the analyst gave it, for example INH000027380. If you only have a name, type the name. Then tap Submit.

  3. Read the row that comes back

The table has these columns: SR NO., BSE Enlistment No, SEBI REGISTRATION NO, RESEARCH ANALYST NAME, CITY and STATE. The BSE enlistment number is the second column.

  4. Match it against SEBI's register

Now open SEBI's register of Research Analysts, tap the box marked "Registration No.", type the same INH number and tap GO. The name and the city should agree with BSE's row and with the analyst's website.

  5. Stop if anything does not match

If BSE's list returns nothing, check that you typed the number exactly. If it still returns nothing, or shows a different name or city, ask the analyst why before you pay anything. Then confirm the payment account through the contact details on SEBI's register.
